The City Manager's recommended budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2010 includes a proposed 6 percent increase in the City's portion of the property tax rate. This would increase your total property tax bill by less than 1 percent. This pamphlet discusses the recommended increase and what it means for Park City homeowners.

2009 Stats for Resorts in the Western Mountain Area
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010Interesting information regarding how Park City’s year end sales stats compared with resorts in Colorado, California, Canada, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Of all 13 reported resorts, Park City enjoyed the largest sold sales volume ($834,507) and the most number of sold units (1,070).

Park City fared better than every other western mountain resort. Every resort was off, but all were off by much larger amounts than Park City. Even so, the Park City Board of Realtors had a total of 1,113 transactions in 2009 which was the lowest number of sales since 1989.
Statistically speaking, our low point for the number of transactions was February, 2009. So we have seemed to turn the corner in number of sales months ago. The market continues to be price sensitive and interest rates will probably rise in 2010.
We are cautiously optimistic that 2010 will be better than 2010.
Park City Pended Sales 2005 – 2009
Tuesday, June 9th, 2009Rick Klein from Wells Fargo Mortgage discussed the trend of pending home sales in all areas of Park City at our Monday morning weekly sales meeting. Check out October, 2008 through January, 2009, sales activity was at the bottom. In March & April of this year, we are starting to see a trend (ever so slightly) of sales activity starting to creep up. We’ve had more sales in the spring of 2009 than the entire 2008-2009 winter season.

Top 10 Places to Buy a Second Home
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Want to work with the second home market? Consider moving to these areas, named the top 10 places to buy a second home by MSNMoney.com and Escapehomes.com.
The results are based on their own listings for real estate in these communities. Listings aren't sales, though, and EscapeHomes.com doesn't reflect the whole market. In fact, real estate professionals in some of these towns (Asheville, N.C., for example) say sales were never that hot, while those in others (Park City, Utah, and Sunriver, Ore.) say appreciation has slowed in recent years.
With all those caveats aside, here are the Top 10 second-home investment markets:
* Asheville, N.C.
* Park City, Utah.
* Ashland, Ore.
* Port Townsend, Wash.
* Beaufort, S.C.
* South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
* Daytona Beach, Fla.
* Sunriver, Ore.
* Myrtle Beach, S.C.
* Charlevoix, Mich.
